Mark Primack

Mark Primack, Board Chairman

Mark Primack has lived in Santa Cruz since 1976. He is a practicing architect whose civic volunteerism is centered on encouraging and preserving community diversity and resilience.

Abbey Asherk

Abbey Asher, Board Member

Abbey Asher has lived in Santa Cruz with her family since 1990.  She works at UCSC, coordinating a service-learning program which places students in non-profits and schools in the community.  She also teaches yoga at the University and at Yoga Center Santa Cruz.  Abbey is a firm believer in the therapeutic benefits of gardening.

Leigh Anne Starling

Leigh Anne Starling , Board Member

Leigh Anne Starling is a registered horticultural therapist and certified rehabilitation counselor.  She has been working in the field for over 20 years.  She is currently a consultant in program development and adaptive garden design.  Leigh Anne volunteers her time promoting the benefits of working with plants for all individuals and ages.  

Paul Glowaski

Paul Glowaski, Board Member

A Hoosier by birth, Paul comes from a long tradition of farmers and social service advocates. He has worked with homeless individuals for almost ten years. First, as an outreach worker for COTS in Burlington, VT., and then, as the Farm Director for the Homeless Garden Project. Following his work at the HGP, Paul started his own farming enterprise, Dinner Bell Farm, nestled just outside of Grass Valley, CA. He is honored to continue working with the HGP as a member of the Board of Directors and hopes to help the Project continue its important work as we look towards the future.

Mary Edmund

Mary Edmund, Treasurer 

I moved to the Santa Cruz area in 1996 following retirement from the military where I was a nurse involved with health care policy, budgeting and legislation.  I immediately became involved with the The Homeless Garden Project which provides an avenue for me to help make a difference in the lives of those who want to make changes that improve their circumstances and help themselves to grow.
